Our Nation’s Infrastructure
This page lists details of our national water infrastructure.
490 dams are in Australia over 15 m high or 10 m high if they store a lot of water.
Significant irrigation channels are present in all basins in Australia. The Murray-Darling Basin has many channels and so too does the Harvey scheme in Western Australia. Other basins in Queensland have channels.
Pipes connect all major cities with their dams for household water. There are large pipelines for the WA goldfields scheme and also large pipelines in SA for the Morgan to Whyalla route.
Sewerage Treatment Plants
Every city has sewerage treatment plants.
All major cities have explored opening desalination plants to supplement natural water in their catchment. So far the Gold Coast, Perth, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide have set up desalination plants.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_desalination_plants_in_Australia
